Hot Club Sandwich

Twenty years ago, hot-jazz string band Hot Club Sandwich formed in Olympia, WA after a chance meeting on a front porch. Each band member offers compositions and arrangements, with instrumentation featuring guitars, bass, violin, mandolin and drums. Everyone in the band sings. The fifth Hot Club Sandwich recording, No Pressure (2018), features a guest appearance by master mandolinist David Grisman. Click here to listen.

We're developing a special page for our new site entitled: 'Ask Ray'

Want to know what it was like to back up touring artists like the Delmore Brothers and Sir Lancelot in Asia during the 1960s. Ask about his standing residencies over the years, or maybe about his first radio performance in Bremerton in the late '40s or maybe the 1950 rehearsal of Arkie Shibley and his group at Ray's parents' house, which yielded the famous recording "Hot Rod Race No. 1" at a studio in Seattle the following day. Inquire about chord inversions or applications of modal theory. Ask Ray about his favorite songs.

Feel free to send an email to hotclubsandwich [at] gmail.com. We will do our best to handle all inquiries. We'll 'Ask Ray' for his responses, and then we'll post the best questons on the forthcoming page (only with your permission, of course).
